Original Kitchen Demolition

The 'kitchen' you've seen in prior posts isn't the original kitchen. The original 1937 kitchen was in the main house, in a room used as a library/office after the addition that houses the now-kitchen.

Today was demo on that room. Although some aficianado of 1930's-era cabinetry is probably now in tears, Andrea ripped out the original, old, 10,000-layers-of-paint cabinets.

Demo is probably Andrea's favorite part of renovation. I just hand her the sawzall, hammer, crowbar and get out of her way. A couple hours of pounding, banging and some 'choice' language later... Stuff be gone. It's... therapeutic.

And that is the LAST demolition for this project! 

It's always fun to reveal stuff that hasn't seen the light of day since 1937. But a particular treat in this case was to see the never-ever-once-finished wood floors in the corners. Amazing to look at something that's literally been 'buried' for 80 years and know it's going to get a new life.
