Bathroom renovation "before and after" side by side photos

One of our most loyal followers suggested side-by-side before and after photos. They're not perfect, but here they are...

Before: bulky 'vanity' sink with contractor-grade faucet. Bulky and inefficient surface-mount medicine chest that simultaneously managed to be cheap and nasty. In-wall old soap dish and towel rack that were superseded and useless... Non-GFI outlet right next to sink screams 'code violation' and danger.

After: Sleek pedestal sink. More efficient in-wall medicine chest that has similar storage capacity with much smaller 'footprint'. Much flatter and brighter wall-light without old-fashioned "bulbs" sticking out. GFI outlet properly rewired.

Before: Nasty carpeted floor... carpet? in a bathroom? really? In-wall toilet paper holder with inconvenient location. 60" old-school tub with shower curtain wasted space and was visually obstructive. 

After: 48" shower affords just as much practical space while also giving room for storage next to toilet. Much cleaner and more clear look overall.

Before: Nasty bath/shower walls have 'fake' tile pattern pressed into plaster. Years' worth of paint is peeling. Caulk at top of tub is being asked to do too much, is failing, needs replaced. No storage/shelves in shower, so 'bar' has to do double-duty as storage.

After: Clean shower stall with sliding doors. Shelving integrated.
