Decor Ideas While We Wait
Our first post of the 'before' pictures looks so lonely, we're going to add another one even though it's only Day 1...
We've got a pretty clear idea of 'the look' we want, and some specific ideas for specific rooms. Here's some of our 'inspiration' photos.
Overall, we're going to be sticking to a neutral gray-based color scheme, with white trimwork
And yes, I'm planning a tray ceiling in the living room.
Speaking of the living room, one thing NOT in that prior picture is that we'll sheath the fireplace in a floor-to-ceiling wood mantel sort of like this:
Across the front hall, in the "dining room" (the one with the pink carpet currently), we'll maybe risk a dash of bolder color in blue, with wainscot - but probably NOT another tray ceiling. Though with 10' ceilings on the main floor, it's tempting. Too much?
In the Kitchen, we will definitely be going with white cabinets and a dark countertop (maybe a nice quartz we've already identified...)
That awkward 'alcove' area in the Kitchen will be closed-in to become a good-sized (about 8 x 10) walk-in-pantry. Something we've both always wanted and never had.
It's gonna get a lot uglier before it starts looking nicer, though. This may be the last 'pretty pictures' post we're making for quite a while...
